Joe Anna Hibler was president of
Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, Oklahoma,
from July 1, 1990 to June 30, 2001. Prior to that she
taught business, served as Dean of the School of Business, Vice
President for Academic Affairs. She also taught business
at Altus High School and Altus Junior College. She has
lived in Forgan, Leedy and Altus, Oklahoma and Perryton, Texas.
She received a B.S. degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State
University, M.S. degree from Oklahoma State University, and an
Ed.D. from the University of Oklahoma. She is a lifetime
member of the National Business Education Association, Oklahoma
Education Association, and Oklahoma Retired Educators
Association; member of Delta Pi Epsilon; Oklahoma Educator's
Hall of Fame; Oklahoma Education Hall of Fame; Dewey County Hall
of Fame; Western Oklahoma Hall of Fame; board member of the
Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation; Educator's Leadership
academy; and Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Society.
She was awarded the Robert Gregg award. Publications
include co-author of chapter for 1992 NBEA Yearbook, "Developing
Leadership in Business Education." co-editor of "Integrating
Word Processing into the Business Education Curriculum," NBEA
Yearbook; published "Word Processing: A Teaching Unit;" "Service
Bulletin No. 55,"Mountain-Plains Business Education Association;
published "Teaching Students the Cost of Living," Business
Education Forum; and editor of secretarial administration
section of the Business Education Forum. Her civic and
community activities include Earlybird Readers for Burcham
Elementary School; volunteer at Thomas P. Stafford Museum; board
of trustees, First United Methodist Church; Kiwanis; and board
member for Wesley Foundation. Her hobbies include
traveling, reading, golf, needlepoint, and sports. |
